Our Insects
The
Butterfly specimens are from butterfly
and insect farms in Australia, Asia,
North, Central and Southern America
which breed and supply live and non-live
insect specimens for butterfly houses
and insect collectors around the world.
Catching and using butterflies from
the wild is not only uneconomical,
but the specimens are invariably damaged
and of no use for this type of display.
Butterflies and insects live their
entire life span on these farms, and
produce eggs for the next generation.
No butterflies or insects used in
these displays are endangered species.
In
the wild, less than 7% of butterfly
eggs will survive to adulthood. In
contrast, captive breeding programs
achieve 70%-90% survival rates. Based
on a 70% survival rate, butterfly
farms can produce 2450 specimens from
an average female Birdwing butterfly
in just three generations! These figures
give you an idea of just how reproductive
the insect world is!

Please
note that due to international regulations
regarding the shipment of insects,
our items can only be shipped within
the United States.
We
normally ship via USPS Priority Mail
which takes 2-3 days for delivery,
but is subject to the usual postal
delays. We charge a FLAT RATE of $6
for the first item and $3 for each
additional item shipped together.
Giant Butterfly displays are $18 each
for shipping. We ship within 2 to
5 business days of order, excluding
weekends and holidays. |
